Thomas John Huzl

Colebrook Twp. – Thomas J. Huzl, age 69, died at his home peacefully on Monday, December 6, 2021, with his wife by his side. He was the son of Thomas J. and Anne (Pechac) Huzl born on February 8, 1952 in Ravenna. Tom was married to Cheryl (Davis) Huzl on July 7, 1984. After graduating from James A. Garfield High School in Garrettsville in 1970, Tom began working at Geauga Industries in Middlefield. He helped organize Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers’ Union, Local 1902 and served as president for 15 years. He then worked for Culligan Water Conditioning and retired after 21 years of service. Tom enjoyed woodworking, gardening and listening to music. He was also an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan. Tom is survived by his wife, three children; Heather (Allen) Beil of Eastlake, T.J. Huzl of McKinney, TX and Travis (Alexandra) Huzl of Amherst, sister Cecilia (Lee) Easton of Orwell and brother Daniel (Sandi) Huzl of Garrettsville. He is preceded in death by his parents. A funeral mass officiated by Rev. David I. Bridling will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at St. Mary Church, 103 N. Maple Street, Orwell, OH 44076. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
