Thomas Arthur Cunningham, 76 of New Lyme Township, passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2026. Tom, as everyone called him, enjoyed many things in life, including flying his small plane, farming, racquetball, and officiating middle and high school sports. Tom was a third-generation drainage contractor and farmer. He owned and operated Cunningham Farm Drainage, Incorporated and Nine Oaks Farm. Tom was born on May 28, 1950, in Warren, Ohio. He was the youngest of Edgar and Dorothy (Antonides) Cunningham’s four sons and the youngest twin. He graduated from Middlefield Cardinal High School and continued his education at the Ohio State University and Malone College. Tom earned an associate’s degree in accounting.
Tom is survived by his three children, Joy Miller of Arlington, Virginia, Donna (Bryan) Shinault of Conneaut, Ohio, and Adam (Brooke) Cunningham of Columbia, Missouri; eight grandchildren (Katelyn, Britney, Breanna, Lindsay, Cortney, Colby, Mihran, and Brayden); one great-grandchild (Addison); and three brothers (Martin, James, and Donald). He is preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours will be held at the Geauga County Airport, Hangar 2, 15421 Old State Road, Middlefield, Ohio, 44062, on July 7, 2026 from 12-4 PM followed by a memorial service officiated by Dean Burnette at 5 PM. Please do not send flowers, memorial contributions may be made at the service or sent by mail to the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 5 Young Eagles Program in Tom’s name.
