Thomas Aldridge Obituary

Thomas Allen Aldridge, age 87, died on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. He passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long and hard-fought health battle. He was the son of Claude Ray Aldridge and Bertha (Gaisbauer) Turner, born March 4, 1938 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was married to June Aldridge on Christmas Day, 1975, and they lived together in the house that they built in Rockport, TX. This year would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. Tom was a member of the United States Marine Corps, where he served with the Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station, and the Marine Air Reserve Training Command. He was also a member of the United States Air Force. As a civilian, Tom worked in aviation, in the California Aerospace Industry, including for eight years at Hughes Aircraft. He was proud to have worked on the Apollo mission command module, helping to send the first astronauts to the moon. Tom enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. He was a member of the Holiday Beach Baptist Church in Texas, and a founder of the Rockport, Texas Computer Club. He enjoyed teaching others about technology, enjoyed electronics, bird watching, reading, traveling, and bowling. He maintained a lifelong love of aviation, and had his private pilot’s license. Tom is survived by his wife, June; one half-brother: Ricky Turner (Josie); one half-sister: Celia McFarland (Bill); two children: Tammy and John Aldridge; two step-children: Dana (Chunyo) Calvert and Anna (Chunyo) Nye, and eight grandchildren: Matthew and Sydney Aldridge, Emily, Holly, and David Nye, and Donald, Steven, and Timothy Calvert. He is preceded in death by his parents: Claude Ray Aldridge and Bertha Turner; and two sisters: Claudine and Patricia. A private church service will be held at a later date in Texas.
