Sandra L. Hill-Smith

Rome Twp. – Sandra (Sam) L. Hill-Smith age 66, passed away at her home on May 22, 2021 after a short battle with cancer. She was born on March 30, 1955 in East Cleveland the daughter of Paul W. and Dorothy J. (Repass) Shaner. Sam was married to Bruce V. Smith on June 13, 1997 and graduated from West Geauga High school in Chesterland.  She worked for the State of Ohio and retired as an administrative assistant for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) after 30 plus years of service. Sam was also the former co-owner of the Hill Hardware in Burton. She enjoyed arts and crafts, camping, canoeing, shopping and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband Bruce V. Smith of Rome Twp., son Thomas M. (Kelsey L.) Hill of Mentor, brother Kim L. Shaner of Orwell, several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents and former husband Thomas M. Hill Sr. In accordance with Sam’s wishes a cremation was conducted. The family will hold a Celebration of Life cook-out on June 26, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Rome Volunteer Fire Department, 3162 US Route 6, Rome, OH 44085. The family wants everyone to wear casual attire and be comfortable. Memorial contributions to be made in care of Sandra L.
