Orwell Township - Ray L. Carlson, 83, died Friday March 15, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 26, 1935 in Warren, Ohio, son of Edward and Audrey (Wallace) Carlson. He married Dianne Crider on November 5, 1976 in Jefferson.
Ray was a furnace operator at Kennametal, Inc. until he retired in 1993. Ray also was a 70 year member of The Jefferson Grange and was a member of the Orwell Presbyterian Church. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, listening to polka, blue grass, country music, and working on the farm with his family and grandson Johnathan Squibbs.
Survivors include his brother Glen (Carol) Carlson, children; Kevin (Laura) Carlson of Simpsonville, NC, Christine (Keith) Conner of Radford Virginia, Barbara (Duane) Squibbs of Orwell, and Shane (Lynette) Gregory of Colebrook, grandchildren Abby and Olivia Carlson, Mackenzie and Connor Sterling, Johnathan and Kortney Squibbs, Kelsey Zimperman, Hanna Gregory, Brittany Dryer, Jason Headley, great-grandchildren, Peyton Headley and Cameron Dryer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and Edward, and his wife Dianne.
A funeral service officiated by Rev. James Stanley will be held at the Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, Ohio on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Brownwood Cemetery, North Bloomfield Twp. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ashtabula Co. 4-H Advisory Committee or The American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
