MACEL EILEEN KING, 89, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 21, 2024. She spent her final days surrounded by her loving family. Macel joins her husband of 60 years, Albert King, as well as several family members gone on before.
Eileen (Ean to some), loved to spend her time crocheting Afghans for family members, nursing home residents, or foster children. She was a gifted seamstress and had kept her family “in stitches” in more ways than one, as she loved a good joke, and was known for her one-liners. Some of Eileen’s handiwork has traveled as far as England and Australia, as well as across the U.S. She loved flowers and had been told she not only had a green thumb, but an entire green hand. Eileen also loved birds, and had recently acquired an impressive owl collection. She was fond of bright colors, with shades of purple becoming her most recently favored. Eileen loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially when playing her favorite games, Dominoes and Yahtzee, or working on word puzzles or coloring pictures, but above all her favorite pastime was spending time with God. Whether she was filling one of her many positions in the church, attending services at Grand Valley Church of the Nazarene, or at Vision of Hope Christian Fellowship, reading her Bible, or simply praying for those she loved, Eileen (and Albert), left a legacy of love for God and family.
Eileen is survived by her brother, Willard Bender; a sister, Carolene Giragos; precious nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her immediate and extended family; sons, Chet (Jane) King, Duane (Barb) King; daughters, Paula (Darl) Krieg, and Cherylene (Steve) Peterson; grandchildren, Matt (Celinés) King, Allison King, DJ (Sherri Schmink) King, Christy (Brian) Katz, Heather (Jed) Chapin, Doug (Greta) Krieg, Apryl (Dakota) Dean, Hope (Donnie) Vanderbloom, Nikki (Dan) Manzella, Veronica Peterson, Sandi (Brian) Howard, and Stephani Peterson; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Abby King, Madelyn and Ryan Katz, Taylor (Kevin Brady) Albrinck, Jonathon (Stacie Richie) Summers, Haley Chapin, Ciara (AJ Fertig) and Richelle Murphy, Megan Vanderbloom, Ethan, Donnie, and Isabelle Vanderbloom, Melody and Christian Manzella, Myranda, Baylie (Mario Sanchez) Hardt, Aubrie (José Ayala), and Robbie Hardt, and Alaina (Dru Parent) Peterson; and great-great grandchildren, Tatum Whittaker, Sophia and Leia Sanchez, and Mallory and Andre Ayala.
Calling hours will be observed, Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 11:00AM-12:45PM at Paine Funeral Home, 140 E. Main St., Orwell, where a service will follow at 1:00PM. Burial will follow at Orwell North Cemetery.
