Orwell- Lela Marie VanDervort Britton Hall, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Blossom Hill Nursing Home.
She was born on August 16, 1925 in Bristolville, Ohio the daughter of Homer and Nancie (Elwood) VanDervort.
Lela worked many jobs throughout her career and even in retirement, including Kennametal, selling license plates from her home, Geauga Industries, Golden Dawn, Van’s Furniture and Davis True Value.
She was a faithful member of Orwell United Methodist Church. Lela enjoyed playing cards, knitting, playing the organ, traveling to Florida for the winters and going on cruises.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her son, William H. (Vicky) Britton; sister, Joan Black; son-in-law, Ed Benton; daughter-in-law, Becky (Butch) Smock; grandchildren, Brandon (Kelly), Rebecca, William (Lisa) Jr., Keri (Eric), Allison (Brian), and Joe (Ginny); 16 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Horace Britton, whom she married on June 13, 1946 and Eugene Hall, whom she married on May 24, 1979; son, Michael A. Britton; daughter, Susan E. Benton; grandson, Eric; and her siblings, Wilma, Royce, Kent, Dorothy, and Jim.
Calling hours will be held, Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 11:00AM-12:00PM at the Paine Funeral Home, 140 E. Main St., Orwell, where a funeral service will follow at 12:00NOON, with Pastor Sherry L. Wilson, officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Orwell North Cemetery, following the service.
