Laverne "Vern" P. Goodge

Rock Creek – Laverne “Vern” P. Goodge, age 76 passed away at the Western Reserve Hospice House in Cleveland on Monday, December 5, 2022. He was born on May 19, 1946 in Wayne, the son of Grant H. and Bertha M. (Knowles) Goodge. He married Carol A. (Langheid) Goodge on May 11, 1968. Vern was a U.S. Army Veteran and worked for True Temper as a truck driver, factory worker and retired from Lincoln Electric. He was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church, Ashtabula Co. Antique Engine Club and Ashtabula Co. Metro Parks Volunteer. Vern was a member and former Chief at Morgan Hose Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife Carol A. Goodge, children Amanda (Matthew) Forristal of Harker Heights, TX, Eric (Gwendolyn) Goodge of Rock Creek, grandchildren Jacob, Rebecca, Eileen, Cooper, Samantha and Caleb, brother Gary (Barb) Goodge, sisters Beverly Williams, Ramona Goodge and brother-in-law Dennis Langheid. Preceded in death by his parents and his sister Janet Bates.

A funeral service, officiated by Vern’s cousin Pastor Russell Alexander will take place at the Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076 on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., burial will follow at Rock Creek Union Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be held Friday, December 9, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Morgan Hose Vol. Fire Department, P.O.
