Kenneth William Armstrong, 77, of Windsor township passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, October 8, 2023 at the David Simpson Hospice House with his family at his side. Ken was preceded in death by his parents William and Mary Ellen Armstrong, formerly of Munson Twp. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 55 years Mary Lou (Buday) Armstrong, daughter Karen Gallivan of Akron and sons Christopher (Kathleen) of Rocky River and Matthew (Alyson) of Mayfield Village, grandchildren Sarah, Benjamin and Vivien Armstrong, Merrill and Chelsea Konst, Connor Gallivan, Gavin Keller, and Seth Ferance, great grandson Luca Tripodo, and brothers Richard (Debi) and Gary (Cindi) Armstrong, both of Florida. Ken loved spending time with his family most of all, baking Christmas cookies with his grandchildren, setting off fireworks on the 4th of July, and baiting hooks to teach his grandchildren how to fish. He was passionate about restoring and cruising in his 1973 Plymouth gold duster. He was a trustee of the Windsor Historical Society and spent many years renovating his Windsor homestead. Ken graduated from Chardon High School in 1964 then served honorably as a communication specialist in the US Army stationed in Bangkok, Thailand during the Viet Nam war. After returning home, he married the girl next door in 1968 and began his career as a cable splicer at Alltel Telephone Co. in Chardon, retiring in 2009 after a dedicated career of 42 years.
The family will be holding visitation at Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, Ohio 44076 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023. A memorial service officiated by Pastor Laurie Krieg will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110-9915. The family would like to acknowledge the tender care Ken received from the staff at David Simpson Hospice House. The caregivers could not have been kinder to Ken and his entire family.
