Karen Kay Johnson

Orwell – Karen Kay Johnson, age 68, passed away Monday, April 6, 2026, at UH Geauga Medical Center. She was born December 25, 1957, in Painesville, the daughter of Henry and Erma Johnson. Karen worked in her younger years as a physical therapy assistant at Heather Hill Nursing Home. She attended Orwell North Presbyterian Church and Hartsgrove Assembly for Christ. She was a devout Christian with an enormous heart and was known for her strength and resilience. She found joy in crocheting and generously donated many of her handmade items to charity. Karen also cherished time spent visiting with family and friends and enjoyed listening to live music. Karen is survived by her son, Tommy (Laura) Ross Jr.; “Dad” Jim Wakkila; siblings, Cheryl (Steve) Stegh, Charlotte (Jason) Todaro, Paula (Larry) Moore, Donna Laag, Elaine Elmore, and Henry “Hank” Johnson; as well as nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; foster mother, Audrey Wakkila; brother, John Wakkila; and daughters, Jean (Ross) Riffle and Amanda Ross.
