Joanne L. Runyan

Geneva – Joanne “Jody” Louise Runyan, 93 of Geneva, formerly of Jefferson and living in New Lyme for over fifty years, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at The Sanctuary of Geneva Assisted Living. She was the daughter of Ivan H. and Ethel J. (Rufner) Smith born on November 25, 1929 in Newton Falls. Joanne was married to Calvin Runyan on October 26, 1952. A few years after their marriage, Calvin’s brother, Norman married Joanne’s sister Carole.  Joanne worked at Jefferson Hardware, but spent most of her life being a farmer’s wife and mother. She was a member of the New Lyme Presbyterian Church and Eastern Star. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting, genealogy, reading and listening to audio books. Joanne is survived by her daughter, Patricia Frenelle of Geneva, brother Robert (Kathy) Smith of Sarasota, FL, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Calvin D Runyan, son Donovan Runyan and nephew Russ Runyan. 

A Funeral Service officiated by Pastor Eric Barfell will be held at Paine Funeral Home, Inc. 140 E. Main St. Orwell, OH  44076 on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Dodgeville Cemetery, New Lyme. Visitation will take place at the funeral home prior to the funeral from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be made at painefuneralhome.com
