Colebrook Twp – Henrietta “Hetty” (Mealy) Nims, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Lantern of Saybrook . She had been residing there for the past four years. She was born on March 2, 1930 in Greenville, PA the daughter of Smith Joseph and Marianna (Reinhart) Mealy. Hetty married Marion “Bo” Nims on June 27, 1948 at the Colebrook United Methodist Church where she had been a member since August 1, 1954. She was a 64-year member of The Order of the Eastern Star, serving her chapter in many capacities. Hetty was Worthy Matron of the Emerald Chapter and in 1990 was granted a life membership in the Covered Bridge Chapter. In 1989 she was appointed to the position of Grand Representative to North Dakota in Ohio. She loved traveling and decorating for events. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and going to the grandchildren’s events at school and recitals. She is survived by her son Kenneth (Sandi) Nims of Colebrook, daughter Pearl (Greg) Walthall of Windsor, MO, sister Linda (Terry) Swauger of Cortland, Judy Johnson of IL., 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Marion Nims, daughter Karen Nims Diedrich, siblings Dora, Anna, Eden, Warren and Harry Gerry.
A graveside committal service officiated by Pastor Laurie Krieg will be held at Colebrook North Cemetery (Fee Rd.) on Saturday, September 24th at 11:00 a.m. Per Hetty’s request instead of sending flowers please make memorial contributions to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, OH 44004.
