George Smith Obituary

North Bloomfield – George A. Smith (87) passed away Friday October 8, 2021. He was born August 31, 1934, in Orangeville Ohio, the first son of Walter and Hazel Smith. George graduated from Vernon High School in 1954. George served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959 stationed in Fort Knox Kentucky.  George and Eleanor married in the Hadley PA Church on October 7, 1961. The couple had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary 1 day before his passing. Eleanor and George loved to spend time with their two boys, grandchildren and great grandson. They also enjoyed camping and traveling together. George liked to tinker with cars and was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His family was the pride of his life. They bought their current home in North Bloomfield in 1962. George was an active member and regular attendee of the North Bloomfield United Methodist Church serving in different capacities. George was a charter member of the North Bloomfield Optimist Club since 1968. George enjoyed participating in the annual spring festival (chicken dinner), the fish fry in the fall each year, ham and turkey bingo working alongside his fellow members and friends. George is survived by his loving wife Eleanor, sons, Mark (Yvonne) Smith, David (fiancée Diane) Smith, brothers Allen (Dorothy) and Robert (Debbie) Smith, grandchildren Marcus (Anthony) Smith, Caitlin (Frank) Moll, great-grandson Frank Joseph Moll VII, sister-in-law’s June and Sherry Smith, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Hazel Smith, His brothers Charles and Roy Smith, Step Mother Pauline Smith. A funeral service officiated by Rev. David Miller and Rev. Vernon Palo will take place at the Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076 on Thursday October 14, 2021 at 12:00 p.m., burial and military honors will follow at Brownwood Cemetery, Bloomfield Township. Friends and family who would like to extend their condolences are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions, in memory of George, may be given to the North Bloomfield United Methodist Church, P.O.
