Elmer William Geil

Geneva- Elmer William Geil, formally of Hartsgrove, age 92 passed away at Rae-Ann Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on December 15, 2022. He was the son of William Henry and Alma Marie (Putzier) Geil, born on October 23, 1930 in Cleveland, OH. Elmer married Iris (Kananen) Geil on September 24, 1960. Elmer was a self-employed Dairy Farmer in Hartsgrove for 55 years. Elmer was a member of the Hartsgrove Community Church, Hartsgrove Grange, and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, spent many Springs and Summers raising plants for friends and family. He was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. Elmer is survived by his wife Iris of Geneva, daughters Joyce Ritchie of Orwell and Karen (Charles) Portzer of Hartsgrove, son-in-law Wayne Ritchie of Hartsgrove, grandchildren Sarah, Wayne William, Stacie, Alyssa (Andy) of Alliance, Benjamin, Megan, and Kylee. He was preceded in death by his parents, son John J, Geil. Funeral services officiated by Pastor Robin Stanley will be held on Wednesday December 21, 2022, 12:00 p.m. at the Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076. Burial will follow at Ray’s Corners Cemetery in Lenox Twp. Visitation will take place prior to services from 11:00 am – 12:00 p.m. A special thank you, by the family to Rae Ann staff for the wonderful care they gave to Elmer.
