Elizabeth J Parke

Huntsburg- Elizabeth “Betty” J. Parke, 90,  passed away peacefully on Sunday June 14, 2020 at Ohman Family Living at Blossom Hill, Huntsburg, Ohio where she lived for the past 2 ½ years after suffering a stroke in December, 2017.Betty was born on a farm in Orwell, Ohio on April 11, 1930 the daughter of Michael and Sadie (Kuziw)  Slusher. She was the youngest of seven living children.Her siblings were John, Nicholas, Ann, Julia, William and Marie, all deceased.She attended Orwell school (now Grand Valley). After graduation, she joined Farmers (now Key) Bank and worked there until she retired in the early 1990’s.Betty met her husband Walter Parke through mutual friends and they married on September 29, 1956.They were married for fifty-six years until Walter passed away in 2012. Betty was proud of her large Vegetable garden and her flower beds. Her greatest passion was polka dancing and she and Walter would go every Sunday and traveled with their favorite polka band to Seven Springs, Pennsylvania and Slovenia. She was also an avid fan of the Bristolville boys and girls basketball teams for many years.While she and Walter were never blessed with children of their own, they were the favorite aunt and uncle to their many nieces and nephews. Many good times with family and friends were had on their farm.Betty was a lifelong member of St Mary’s Church in Orwell and participated in many events there.Due to the Coronavirus, a private family funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Church.Her nieces and nephews ask that you hold your family and friends dearly, raise a glass (preferable a Fuzzy Navel or Screwdriver) to toast her life and eat at your favorite restaurant when life gets back to normal in honor of Betty.Contributions in Betty’s name may be made to your favorite charity.Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E.
