Edward Charles Hopes

Orwell – Edward Charles Hopes, age 89, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Blossom Hill Care Center. He was born on May 13, 1930 in Orwell the son of Frank Stanley and Marian (Cook) Hopes. Edward was married to Lucille Grace Askins Hopes on July 5, 1951. He was a U.S Army Veteran and was employed by Rimes Trucking for 33 years. A partner in the Hopes Farm for 30 years, 60 year member at Orwell North Presbyterian Church, served on Orwell Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years and Fire Chief for 25 years. Member of Ashtabula Co. Fire Chiefs Association, Orwell American Legion Post 719 and Dragon-N-Buggies Camping Group. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to Florida, hunting and fishing. Survived by his children Becky Wortman of Trumbull Twp., Dee (Chester) Collins of Orwell, Thomas (Christina) Hopes of Ravenna, Timothy Hopes of Orwell, special friend Donalyn Blake, sister Grace Alderman, sister-in-law Charlotte Keener, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren. Preceed in death by his parents, wife Lucille G. Hopes and son-in-law Dale W. Wortman.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Erin Valenti will be held at the Orwell North Presbyterian Church on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with US Army Military Honors concluding services. A private burial of his ashes will take place at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church prior to services from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to the Orwell Vol. Fire Department, P.O.
