Daniel H. Kernick

Linesville PA – Daniel H. Kernick, age 77, formerly of New Lyme Twp., passed away at Country Club Retirement Campus in Ashtabula on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. He was born on December 7, 1948 in Pittsburgh, the son of James and Cecilia (Verner) Kernick. Dan was a Vietnam Veteran and worked for Allegheny County PA as a mechanic until his retirement.  He married Kathi (Martin) Kernick on September 19, 2015. Dan was an avid fisherman. He would take his boat to Lake Erie for various fishing expeditions and participated in fishing tournaments. Also, he loved riding his Harley Davidson. His favorite car was a chevy Camaro and he owned several of them over the years. Dan was always in the garage doing some type of restoration or mechanic work. He is survived by his wife Kathi Kernick, son Robert (Tracey) Kernick, step children Jeremy (Geneva), Joseph (Heather) McGrath, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, siblings Donald, Jack, Dick and Nancy.

A funeral service officiated by Susan Robinson will take place at the Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076 on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will held prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. Dan will be buried at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA with military honors at a later date.  Please leave a condolence at painefuneralhome.com
