Charles R. Pebbles

North Bloomfield – Charles (Charlie) R. Pebbles, age 88, a 78-year resident of North Bloomfield passed away in Leesburg, Florida on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at University of Florida Health Leesburg Hospital. He was born on December 10, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio the son of Harold Venn and Annetta (Grover) Pebbles. He was a self-employed Auto Body Technician for 40 years and a US Army veteran. He was a member and former officer of the North Bloomfield United Methodist Church. An avid fisherman, Charlie enjoyed fishing and boating on the lakes of Ohio and Florida.  He built his first boat with purchased plans. Charlie never married and never had children.  In 1973, when his sister, Marcheta, married Lindsay, a widower with three school age children, Charlie became an instant uncle. It quickly became a loving caring relationship with Lindsay’s children, grandchildren and spouses that lasted throughout Charlie’s lifetime. Among other things, he taught his niece and nephews the fine arts of fishing, boating and water skiing. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, the Rev. Marcheta Pebbles Townsend. He is survived by a brother-in-law, Lindsay Townsend, Fairfax, Vermont; a niece,  Lynn Mayo, Barre Vermont; a nephew, Thomas Townsend (Linda), Fairfax, Vermont; a nephew, Mark Townsend, Georgia, Vermont; a grandnephew, Brooks Mayo, Burlington, Vermont; a grandniece, Jazmyn Miner (Zachary), Fairfax, Vermont; a grandnephew, Jordan Townsend, Fairfax, Vermont; mother of Jazmyn and Jordan, Laura Gagner, Fairfax, Vermont; a cousin, Jane Burkhart (John), Orwell, Ohio and a close friend, Deanna Clark, Bristolville, Ohio.

A graveside service, officiated by Pastor Jack Childers, will be held at Brownwood Cemetery, North Bloomfield, Ohio on  Monday, February 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.  Funeral Services entrusted to Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, Ohio 44076. Condolences may be made at painefuneralhome.com. A memorial service will be held late spring or early summer.
