Carol Jean "Toni" (Lake) Covell

Carol Jean “Toni” Covell, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at her home, surrounded by family and friends.

Toni was born on August 20, 1939 in Rock Creek the daughter of Irvine and Veronica (Ferron) Lake. She graduated from Grand Valley High School Class of 1957. During high school she worked for Hanson’s and after graduation worked for the former Farmer’s Bank. Toni married the love of her life, Leroy Covell on September 2, 1961. She would work on and off as the office manager for the family business, Lee’s Orwell Tire for 20 years, while raising her family. Toni was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed volunteering for many local organizations including, Boy Scouts of America, PTA, Daughters of Mary and the Grand Valley Athletic Boosters.

Toni is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Lee Covell; children, Patrick (Jay) Covell of Dallas, TX, Ellen (Hiram) Lynch of Zionsville, IN and Dennis (Sandra) Covell of Lenexa, KS; grandchildren, Ryan, Kascie, Madyson, Kara, Madeline, Jeremy, Kyle, Eldon and Sadie; one great-granddaughter; brother, Jim (Deana) Lake, of Anderson, SC; sisters, Claire Kachur of Cortland and Pat Taylor of Howland.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nancy Lake; and her brother’s-in-law, Robert Taylor, Steve Kachur.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 4PM-7PM at Paine Funeral Home, 140 E. Main St., Orwell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 103 N. Maple St., Orwell, Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 10:00AM, with Rev. Fr. John Madden, celebrating. Burial of ashes will take place at the convenience of the family at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Toni may be given to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula or the Daughters of St. Mary’s, PO Box 217, Orwell, Ohio 44076.
