Bill Hopes

Orwell – Bill Hopes, age 91, passed away at Trumbull Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April, 26, 2023 with his wife by his side. He was born in Austinburg on October 22, 1931 the son of Alex and Helen (Himrod) Hopes. Bill married Vicki (Turner) Hopes on February 14, 1959 and was an US Army Veteran. He was employed at George Rimes Trucking Company, Chardon, OH. Bill was a member of the Orwell United Methodist Church and Chevrolet Club of America. He enjoyed traveling and watching his grandchildren play sports and other extracurricular activities. Bill could be found working in his garage where he had it set-up as a machine shop and was known for the trailers that he built. He is survived by his wife Vicki Hopes, daughter Vicki Lynn (David) Gargas, sisters Virginia Simonson and Dorothy Hare, grandchildren and great grandchildren Paul Gargas and Chad Dowell, Mark and Christinia (children - Frank & Vincent) Gargas, Jeffery and Amy (children - Jonathan & Jacquelyn) Gargas. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Elizabeth Waters and brother Richard Hopes.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Jack Childers will be held at the Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 440476 on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 12 (noon), US Army Honors and burial will follow at Orwell North Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Orwell United Methodist Church.
