Barbora M. Bailey

N. Bloomfield – Barbora M. (Surkala) Bailey, age 74, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Mantua, OH. She was the daughter of Andrew and Edith (Vlach) Surkala, born on January 15, 1948 in Bedford, OH.  Barbora married David Bailey on November 24, 2005. Barbora retired from Kennametal after 37 years of employment. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and her greatest joy was their children and grandchildren, sharing their hopes, dreams, and time. She also enjoyed services, fellowship, and volunteering at St. William Catholic Church. Barbora is survived by her children, Lesa (Jeffery) Carson, Lori (Joseph) Steen, Jennifer (Mike) Purcell, Lisa (Bryan) Karr, Erin (Charles) Boden, Elaine Bailey and David Scott Bailey. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Andrew Ughrin, Alex, Kailha Gallagher, Michael, Ashley and Brittany Purcell, Tom and Elizabeth Carson, Mercedes and Casey Karr, Lauren and Cameron Boden, 5 great grandchildren, Landon, Lailah and Lailani Blanton, Jacob Robert Ray Karr and Evie-Marie Bailey Karr, siblings Andrew (Marilyn), Kenneth and Daniel (Darcy) Surkala, and several nieces and nephews. Barbora was preceded in death by her parents and husband David H. Bailey. 

A funeral mass officiated by Rev. Michael D. Balash will be held at St. William Catholic Church, 5411 Mahoning Ave NW, Warren, OH 44483 on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A committal service will follow at Meadow Brook Memorial Park in Champion. Visitation will be held prior to mass from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The family request that instead of sending flowers, please make memorial contributions to one of the following: St. Mary Catholic Church, St. William Catholic Church or A.L.S.
