Barbara Jean Carr Derbin, age 87, of Orwell, Ohio, formerly of Windsor, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024.  Born on September 17, 1937, in New Lyme, Ohio, to the late Garland Deitz Carr and Ella Jean Hubbard, Barb lived a full and vibrant life, cherished by all who knew her. Barb was a graduate from Deming School in New Lyme.  Being active as a cheerleader is how she met the love of her life, Ronald Richard Derbin, shooting hoops on the opposing team.  Barb and Ron would later marry on April 20, 1956.  Together, they built a beautiful family and a loving home. Before retirement, Barb worked several years at Kaydee Manufacturing in Orwell and Giant Eagle in Middlefield where she was loved by all her coworkers and customers. Barb was preceded in death by her father Garland Carr, mother Ella Wright, stepfather Ray Wright, brother Ronnie Carr, her beloved husband Ron, and their son Gary Derbin. She is survived by her children: Kim (Joel) Weber of Alamogordo, New Mexico; Kandi (Keith) Baker of Orwell, Ohio; Ric (Sarah) Derbin of Jefferson, Ohio; and Shanna (Mike) Dodd of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; and brothers:  Larry Carr, Duane Carr, and Lester Carr. Barb’s legacy also includes 18 grandchildren:  Ashlee, Robert, Michael, Kailee, McKenzee, Jazmine, Ki, Jude, Ryder, Knicole, Dustin, Brittani, Logan, Lyric, Lyssa, Kyle, Legend, and Olivia;  15 great-grandchildren: Zayden, Cara, Cayden, Koda, Ryker, Dustin, Rhiley, Raegan, Jaxson, Alexis, Reese, Kamryn, Nolan, Rowen, and Bastion; and 4 great-great-grandchildren: Lainee, Ryker, Emersyn, and Kennedy, all of whom were a great source of joy and pride in her life. Barb had a zest for life that was reflected in her passions and talents. She spent her days at Jeremy Park in Orwell with her cherished fox terrier companion, Lola.  The two were beloved fixtures in the community and their absence will be deeply felt by the residents.  Barb enjoyed her gift of crocheting, sewing, and gardening. She will always be remembered for her skill in making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, a craft she lovingly shared with family and friends. A natural in the kitchen, Barb had a special knack for baking and making delicious treats for her loved ones. Her fudge, cookies, rhubarb pie, and famous macaroni salad became family favorites, and her cooking will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to taste her creations. Barb’s warm heart, boundless creativity, and love for her family will live on in the many cherished memories she leaves behind. She will be greatly missed, but her spirit will continue to shine through the lives of those who were blessed to know her.

A celebration of life will be held for Barb in the Spring of 2025.  Details will be shared as soon as they are available at painefuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a memorial contribution be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation In Memory of Barbara Derbin.  https://www.macular.org/want-to-help/donate

Rest in peace, Barb.  You will be remembered with love and gratitude.
