Hartsgrove Township – Wilbur Poyer, age 94, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at UH Geauga Medical Center. He was born in Cleveland on February 9, 1925 the son of George and Mary (Patterson) Poyer.
Wilbur was married to “the love of his life” Patricia (Kohler) Poyer on May 4, 1957. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Philippines and Korea. He was the owner of Poyer Supply, which was a plumbing and heating business, for over 50 years. Wilbur attended New Promise Church in Kirtland, was a member of Orwell American Legion Post # 719, VFW and past Chief of Hartsgrove Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed traveling to other countries and vacationing in his RV visiting family and friends around the US. Florida was a destination for him in the winters. He was a farmer at heart and a jack of all trades. He will be remembered as a hard working man who was giving and willing to help whenever needed. His Heart was always in Hartsgrove.
Survivors include his children Bruce (Jayne) Poyer, of Hartsgrove and Gayle (Tom) Wochele of Hartsgrove, also many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, step father Cy Miller, brothers William and George Poyer and sister Marie Novak.
