Mike A Parobek

Gustavus - Mike A. Parobek, age 84 passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at his home. He was born on May 16, 1933, in Colebrook, Ohio; the son of Philip & Helen (Howicz) Parobek. Mike was one of twelve children.

He served in the United States Army from April 6, 1954 – April 5, 1956 as Specialist Third Class. He married Jounita McCurry Parobek on April 18,1959 they were married until her death April 7, 1988. He was a member of the Carpenters Local Union No. 435 for 50 years. He retired from Allen Water’s Construction where he worked as a Union Carpenter for more than 25 years. Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman. Deer hunting was his favorite sport with his son in law Rick. He enjoyed making things with his hands, gardening and helping others. It has been said he would give you his last dime if he felt you needed it. He was loving, kind, gentle, and very hardworking. Many are proud to call him their friend.

Mike is preceded in death by his wife Jounita Parobek, his parents, Philip and Helen Parobek, four brothers, William, John, Paul and Marvin Parobek. Two sisters Ann (Mracek) Barham and Mary (Breunig) Havener.

Survivors include companion Shirley Riggs, one daughter Cheri (Rick) Adams of Orwell, four sisters Helen Parobek, Erica Johnson and Tammy Wynn, all of Texas, Esther Bien of Streetsboro, many nieces, nephews and extended family David and Chris Riggs of Brookfield, Fred Riggs of Gustavus, Kathee and William Grable of N. Bloomfield, Darlene and Chuck Bloom of Gustavus.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Laurie Krieg will be held at the Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076 on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 11:00am. Burial will follow Dodgeville Cemetery, New Lyme Twp., with US Military Honors. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 5:00pm – 7:00 pm.
