Marie Esther Lawson

Rock Creek---Marie Esther Lawson, 86, passed away at the residence of her youngest son in Kent, Ohio on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Born on December 5, 1930 in Akron, Ohio, she was the daughter of Louis H. Fromme and Marie A. Fromme.

On August 3, 1956, she married William H. Lawson, who died on November 27, 1976.Marie was a very prolific writer for several local newspapers and contributed to historical periodicals over the years. She also worked for Goodwill Industries as a Rehabilitation Secretary until her retirement in 1995.

She was a member of Gateway Church in Ashtabula for the past 28 years and was involved in numerous ministries and supported many mission trips to Asia and the Caribbean. In addition, she was the founding member of the Rock Creek-Morgan Township Historical Society and was active in the Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Festival for a number of years.

Marie is being remembered by her family, son William H. Lawson, Jr. (Judith), NaMarie B. Barnes (Gary-deceased) and Louis D. Lawson, Sr. (Lorie), brother, Joe Fromme and step-brother David Lacy of Virginia, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, husband and son-in-law.

Funeral services officiated by Rev. Brian Wright Sr. will held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, 12:00 pm at Gateway Church, 2300 Austinburg Rd. Ashtabula 44004. Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery, Rock Creek, OH. Calling hours will held prior to the service at the church from 10:00am to 11:45am. The family requests memorial contributions may be made to the family, in care of Lou Lawson to assist in defraying medical costs. Envelopes will be available at the church.
