Margaret J. Krieg

Colebrook Twp.  - Margaret Jane Krieg, age 98, died peacefully where she lived most of her adult life, at her family farm in Colebrook, on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019. Margaret was born March, 9, 1921 and was the daughter of Joseph and Bessie (Smith) Kemmer. She was the wife of the late Carl M. Krieg, whom she married in 1940. Margaret was blessed with five sons and one daughter, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was known for her hospitality and generosity to her family, friends and neighbors. Margaret was best known for her homemade pies, averaging a dozen each week, and giving most away. She enjoyed her life on the farm and cooking for farm hands and always opened her home and her heart to those in need. Margaret is survived by four children: Thomas (Patricia), James (Laurie), Darl (Paula) all of Colebrook and Jane Whitely of Cortland, along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and sister, Edith Holcomb and many nieces and nephews of Colorado Springs, along with local with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; husband, Gerald VanDevender (married in 1988); brother Gale; and sons Ronald, Richard and son-in-law Richard Whitely. 

Funeral Service officiated by Pastors Shirley Deemer and Laurie Krieg will be held at the Paine Funeral Home, Inc. 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076 on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Orwell North Cemetery. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. A special thank you to Bella Care Hospice for their passion and dedication.
