Laurel Clarence Griffin

Orwell – Laurel Clarence Griffin, age 95, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born on April 3, 1922 in East Orwell the son of Clarence H. and Elvie Ruth (Sweet) Griffin.

He was married to Doris E. (Shivers) Griffin on April 14, 1945. Laurel was a WWII Veteran serving in the 25th Army Air Forces Base Unit 1942 to 1946. Laurel was a Self Employed proprietor owning a John Deere Dealership (Griffin Implement), Grand Valley Lanes and L.C.G. Farms. He was a member of the Orwell American Legion Post #719, Orwell Gun Club, Grand Valley Chamber of Commerce, Farm Bureau and Orwell Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his children Elaine (John) Lesko, Edward L. Griffin, Debbie (Richard) Dobay and Tiger (Sherri) Griffin; sister Ethlyn (Jim) Rhoads; brother Cloyce (Delores) Griffin; sister-in-law Lois Griffin; grandchildren John (Jenna) Lesko II, Kim (Brian) LaFleme, Lisa Snodgrass, Mark Dobay, Amanda Davis, Mindy Dobay, Tyler (Caity) Griffin, seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife Doris E. Griffin; brothers Elmo, Sewell and Dale Griffin; grandson Christopher Waylon Griffin. 

A funeral service officiated by Rev. John Gehring-Anders will be held on Tuesday, March 20th, 11:00 am at the Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076.  Burial will follow at the Orwell Twp. North Cemetery with US Army Military Honors.  Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday, March 19th from 4:00 to 6:45 pm. At 6:45 pm an Honors Service will be conducted by the Orwell American Legion.
