Colebrook Twp – Herman Clair Somerville, age 83, passed away at Blossom Hill Care Center on Monday, February 25, 2019. He was born on October 16, 1935 in Susquehanna Township, Cambria, County, PA., the son of Ernest and Zelda L. (Black/Somerville) Mercer.
Herman was married to Louella Fay (Housel) on July 2. 1981. He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years as a Military Policeman, worked at Kennamental Inc. for 18 years and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Bristolville. He loved gardening, working jigsaw puzzles and making pictures with glass beads.
He is survived by his wife Louella Fay Somerville, two sons Ronald L. (Deborah) and Jeffery D. Somerville, two daughters Deborah A. (Kenneth) Griffin, Christine L. (Glenn) Ibbotson, brother William (Nancy) Somerville, sister Margaret (Charles) Mercer, five grandsons, two great grandsons, several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, daughter Laura J. Somerville, three sisters Avonell (Earl) Addicott, Doris (Jack) Mercer, Marion (Mel) Kring, brother John L. Somerville Sr.
A funeral service officiated by Pastor George Whitt will be held at the Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076, on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 11:00 am. U.S. Military Honors and burial will follow at Meadow Brook Memorial Park, Warren, OH. Visitation will take place at the funeral home prior to services from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bristolville Freewill Baptist Church, 2087 Greenville Road, Bristolville, OH 44402.
