Agnes Marie Hanvald

Windsor – Agnes Marie Hanvald, age 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at home surrounded by family. She was born on January 21, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of Peter Raymond and Mary (Nagy) Bohn. Agnes worked many jobs throughout her career and even in retirement, including waitressing, owning Aggie’s Pizza in Orwell, working switchboard at Geauga Hospital and volunteering in the Gift Shop at the hospital. She was a member of the Geauga Ladies Auxiliary. Aggie was a faithful member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed counted cross stitch, crossword puzzles, word searches, putting jig-saw puzzles together and reading books. Mrs. Hanvald is survived by her daughters Cynthia DeMars, Lynda (Bill) Kalister, Lorraine (Dave) Dunlap, Rosemary (Rick) Waggoner, Susan Sabin, Constance (Martin) Gillette, Mary (Peter) Kunka; grandchildren Shane, Brian (Allison), Kevin (Becca), Raymond, Andrea, Rachel (Tom), Robert (Erin), Daniela, Allison, Michael (Carrie), Philip (Kaylee), Peter; 17 great grandchildren and sister Laverne Zehe. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Oldrich “Andy” Hanvald Jr., whom she married in April of 1953, celebrating 58 years of marriage before his death in 2011; son-in-law’s Ted DeMars and Randy Sabin; siblings Peter, Richard and Kenneth. The family wishes to thank the staff at UH Geauga and UH Cleveland CICU (especially her angels Dondre’ and Mike) and the Hospice of the Western Reserve. The family suggests memorial contribution to be made in her name to American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or American Macular Degeneration Foundation.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday June 27, 2024 from 4-7pm at Geauga Park District's Claridon Woodlands Judge Lester Taylor Lodge 11383 Claridon Troy Road Claridon Township, 44024.  Cremation services entrusted to Paine Funeral Home, Inc., Orwell.
