Thomas A. Cassidy

New Lyme Twp - Thomas A. Cassidy, age 76, passed away at his home on Friday, March 17, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Cleveland on November 10, 1940 the son of Arthur and Mary (Kershaw) Cassidy.

Thomas was married to Claudia (McGurer) Cassidy on October 8, 1983. He was self-employed, owner of Cassidy Tool, specializing in industrial sales. Thomas was also a printer working for Perlmuter in Cleveland for 25 years. He was a US Army Veteran and politically active serving the Republican Party for the betterment of Ashtabula County. He loved his two dogs, enjoyed western movies especially John Wayne. Thomas also had a passion for reading.

Survivors include his wife Claudia, children Mindy, Janice and Alison Cassidy, Christine (John) Sheehan and Erin (Tusiime) Ndyajunwoha, brother John (Kathy) Cassidy and seven step siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service officiated by Rev. James Stanley will be held at the Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076 on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 7:30 p.m., concluded with US Army Military Honors. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 6:00 to 7:15p.m. A private burial of his ashes will be held at the Brownville Cemetery, New Lyme Twp. at a later date. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contribution may be made in care of Claudia Cassidy to help defray medical expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
